The Agnipath scheme is a historic recruitment policy introduced by the Government of India for enrolling soldiers, sailors, and airmen into the three branches of the Indian Armed Forces (Army, Navy, and Air Force) for a tenure of four years. Personnel recruited under this scheme are designated as 'Agniveers'.

For Agniveer GD, candidates must have passed Class 10th (Matric) with a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate and at least 33% marks in each individual subject.

The recruitment is completed in two main phases. Phase 1 is the online Common Entrance Exam (CEE) which is a computer-based written test. Phase 2 comprises the Physical Fitness Test (PFT), Physical Measurement Test (PMT), Adaptability Test (for Air Force), and Detailed Medical Examination.

Agniveers receive a customized monthly package starting at Rs. 30,000 in the 1st year, rising to Rs. 33,000 in the 2nd year, Rs. 36,500 in the 3rd year, and Rs. 40,000 in the 4th year. 30% of the salary is deducted monthly for the Seva Nidhi fund, matched equally by the Government of India.
